Children’s Ministry

Teacher for Nursery/Preschool/Kindergarten

Overall Ministry Description and How it Relates to Hope’s Mission Statement: To provide a safe, caring, fun environment for children ages newborn to kindergarten and to teach them on an age appropriate level the truths of God’s Word and how it relates to them, so that they develop a foundation for a passion for God, to live in community, to follow His Word & Spirit, and touch the lives of others.

Ministry Position Summary: To provide a safe, caring, fun environment for children, ages newborn to kindergarten; to teach the lesson and to pray with the children on Sunday morning

Spiritual Gifts, Talents & Skills:

  • Is comfortable working with children in this age group, nurturing spirit, gift of helps
  • Enjoys and is gifted in working with children;  Has some creativity in lesson preparation; Is able to modify lesson to meet classroom needs.
  • Anybody that desires this position must be a regular attender of Hope for at least 6 mos. Every person will also need to go through an interview process to determine if the person's gifts, talents and callings are compatible with this ministry's position
  • All children’s ministry volunteers must agree to allow a background check

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Children's Ministry Curriculum Coordinator; Helpers report to the teacher          

Time commitment: Serves on a rotating basis (3 times a quarter); approximately 1-2 hours to prepare; and 45 minutes to care for and to teach a lesson on Sunday during the message time

Current Status: 3 serving/ 1-2 more people needed

General Ministry Responsibilities:

  1. To receive the lesson outline from the Children’s Ministry Curriculum Coordinator
  2. To make necessary preparations for the lesson & occasional craft (directions & materials provided)
  3. To set-up & take-down the classroom before & after the worship service
  4. To teach the lesson on Sunday morning
  5. To oversee helpers and to provide a safe & caring environment for children
  6. To pray with the children
