Overall Ministry Description and How it Relates to Hope’s Mission Statement: The Welcome Ministry honors God and encourages others to live in community by extending Biblical hospitality to each person entering Hope Community Church.

Ministry Position Summary: To greet each person, give them a nametag, and especially help newcomers to feel welcomed, comfortable and loved

Ministry Leader: Jean Raine (email her at info@go2hope.org)

Spiritual Gifts, Talents & Skills: Those who are friendly, warm, helpful and have gifts of hospitality and service.

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Welcome Ministry Coordinator

Time commitment: Serve one Sunday per month from 9:00am – 9:50am.

Current Status: 1 serving/4 more people needed

General Ministry Responsibilities:

1. Nametag Table
   • Warmly greet each person approaching the table with smiles, handshakes & eye contact
   • Help each person to fill out and wear a name tag
   • Ensure that each person (middle school through adult) receives a worship program
   • Be especially mindful of newcomers:
   • Remember, that everything to a newcomer is foreign- what to do, where to sit, where are the restrooms (Imagine going to a foreign country where you don’t know any of the customs or the language & you arrive at a meeting where you don’t know anyone. That’s how many newcomers feel!)
   • Walk them into the cafeteria & introduce the newcomers to a regular member of the congregation
   • Ask the regular attender if the newcomers can sit with them & ask the regular attender to show them the breakfast/coffee table

1. Collecting Offering Bags
   • If needed, help collect the offering bags – distributing contents to the Welcome Ministry Coordinator and or other designated persons

1. Rescheduling – if you are unable to serve on your scheduled Sunday, please attempt to find a replacement from the ministry team & let the coordinator know of the change. If you are unable to find a replacement, please call the coordinator.
